Happiest of Holidays

Another quick and easy card for those last minute few that you might have forgotten!  I simply cut out the tree and trunk from patterned paper, and punched the heart.  Stamped sentiment, a touch of glitter glue and voila! Done! It might not be fancy, but it's easy to put together in under 10 minutes.

Is your holiday shopping done? I think I am...just a few last minute touches here and there and I should be good.  We're hosting Christmas Day breakfast for my family (not a large crowd) so I'm really looking forward to that!!

Supplies:
Stamps: Stylish Sentiments: Holiday (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: Dark Chocolate (Papertrey Ink)
Paper: Kraft, Pure Poppy, white (Papertrey Ink); Jovial collection (Basic Grey)
Other: Heart punch (EK Success); Stickles glitter glue (Ranger)

Joy!

Sorry for the fuzziness in this pic- wonky camera day! I think you get the general idea though.  Does everyone have their Christmas/holiday cards all ready?? Well jeez I hope so! It's only a few days away, what are you waiting for?! :) I might have to whip up a few extra to fill a few "oops, forget about them" spots, so this layout works well for that.  AND, any colour combination could be used as well, so bonus for stretching your supplies!

Supplies:
Stamps: In the Meadow, Framed (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: Raspberry Fizz, Aqua Mist (Papertrey Ink)
Cardstock: Raspberry Fizz, White (Papertrey Ink)
Other: Thickers (American Crafts); gems (Basic Grey)

Peace

Every once in awhile I go through my stack of stamped, but not-yet-coloured images and pick one to boost my inspiration level! :) This gate/wreath from Sunshine Designs was in the pile and was perfect for a Christmas card.  The tops of the gate is sprinkled with clear glitter and looks very sparkly and pretty IRL.  Thanks for looking and have a great day!!

Stamps: gate/wreath (Sunshine Designs); peace from 2008 Holiday Tags (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko); Chamomile, Dark Chocolate (Papertrey Ink); Copic markers

Musical Christmas

A music-themed Christmas card for a friend to give to their music teacher.  I love the rich colours of the Season's Greetings paper collection by Echo Park.  It just 'echos' a traditional Christmas. I used my Bow Easy tool for a perfect bow and attached the tag with a bit of twine.  The poinsettia is left over from last year's Christmas product stash.

Supplies:
Stamps: Mixed Messages (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: True Black, Chamomile (Papertrey Ink)
Paper: Vintage Cream (Papertrey Ink); Season's Greetings (Echo Park); Thrift Shop (October Afternoon)
Other: Poinsettia (Prima); ribbon, button, twine (Papertrey Ink); tag punch (Martha Stewart)

A cutesy, fun card to celebrate Santa this holiday season! :) I haven't used my Stamping Bella stamps in quite awhile and decided to dust off my binder and pull a few Christmasy ones out.  I coloured up this image and paired it with colourful papers from last year's Everybody Loves Christmas line from Echo Park.

Stamps: Santa's clothes a dryin' (Stamping Bella)
Ink: Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko); Copic markers
Paper: Pure Poppy, white (Papertrey Ink); Everybody Loves Christmas collection (Echo Park)

Championing Award Medallions Challenge!

I'm just squeezing in on the last few hours possible to get my card in on the Championing Award Medallions Challenge in the Moxie Fab World.   You still have a few hours to play along too!

I decided to use a kit from Making Memories that I bought a long time ago and included a pre-made medallion just perfect for a beautiful baby card.  All the card needed was some inked edges using Chamomile ink, some ribbon tails and that was it!

Supplies:
Ink: Chamomile (PTI)
Paper: Animal Crackers collection (Making Memories)
Other: Medallion from Animal Crackers collection (Making Memories)

Congrats All Ways

I let the patterned paper take centre stage on this card, and stamped my sentiment in coordinating colours right on the paper.  Added a few gems here and there, and voila! A wedding card. :) Most of my blog posts are short (and hopefully sweet!) lately, and I'm sorry about not being more chatty.  'Tis the season to have a lot 'on the go' and I'm trying to keep it all together, haha! Thank goodness for my trusty iPhone to keep my calendar up to date and to keep me on track!

Supplies:
Stamps: Congrats All Ways (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: Berry Sorbet, Dark Chocolate, Summer Sunrise (Papertrey Ink)
Paper: White cardstock (Papertrey Ink); patterned paper (unknown)
Other: gems (Zva)

With Sympathy

Sympathy cards are never fun to make, but once in awhile they are a necessity.  I used the negative cut out from the Turning a New Leaf die and glued it right to my white cardstock base.  Sentiment, gem and a spritz of Pearl Glimmer Mist and it's done. I've been keeping more and more of the negative spaces from my die cuts for use on cards like this...so easy to do and you might as well get as much 'bang for your buck' as you can!! :)

Supplies:
Stamps: Communique Sentiments (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko)
Cardstock: White, Simply Chartreuse (Papertrey Ink)
Other: Turning a New Leaf die; gem (Kaisercraft); Glimmer Mist (Tattered Angels)

'Tis the Season

An easy, one layer Christmas card using only two stamp sets that could create endless combinations! By using Big & Bold Holiday Wishes, and Wreath for All Seasons, I created 10 cards quickly and with a few different sentiments so that each one was a teeny bit different. I love the rustic, natural look to this card and did a similar one layer card last year, using only two stamp sets as well.

Supplies:
Stamps: Big & Bold Holiday Wishes, Wreath for All Seasons
Ink: Dark Chocolate, Pure Poppy, Chai, Chamomile
Cardstock: Kraft
Other: Stickles (Ranger)

My happy family

We recently had family pictures done by Glenda Cochran of Art & Soul Photography.  Oh my oh my oh my...who knew our family was so gorgeous!? :)
I just LOVE having pictures of my family and friends all over my house and am so proud to put this one (one of my faves) up on my wall.  I can't wait to scrapbook too! I've been busy keeping my Project Life scrapbook up to date and having lots of fun embellishing extra stuff within it.  I definitely plan on picking up another one for 2012.  Are any of you doing Project Life? It's really easy and you can make it as basic or 'fussy' as you like!

Baby Steps!

Yes, just one more baby card, this time a gender neutral one.  I love that sweet, soft green mossy colour for baby cards; it's just so pretty!!  I've layered papers, stickers and die cuts all together with some pearls and sparkle for extra OOMPH! :) Once again, Simple Stories makes it easy!

How are you all coming along with your Christmas cards? I've been making 100 invitations for our municipality's Christmas party, tags for another customer and Christmas cards for an upcoming craft sale so I'm REALLY hoping that I have enough time to whip up a few of my own! I cheated this year again though, like I did last year, and ordered some gorgeous photo cards from Shutterfly.  I loooooove Shutterfly!
I hope you all enjoy your day and make it a good one!

Supplies:
Ink: Chamomile (PTI)
Paper: Spring Moss (PTI); Baby Steps collection (Simple Stories)
Other: Stickers from Baby Steps collection (Simple Stories); pearls (Kaiser Craft); Doily Details die (PTI); Stickles (Ranger)

3 means more joys

I love making birthday cards for little girls as my OWN little 2 1/2 year old girly girl is my ultimate inspiration. Lots of 'pink', butterflies, glitter and doilies? Yes, it met her approval. I'm so lucky that she loves crafting as well.  Give her some crayons and fresh white paper and it will keep her busy for hours! Stickers, stamps and scissors rate high up there too, but the scissors for now...well, she has that 'look' to her that something else would probably get cut besides paper...like hair! I'm not ready for that yet! :)
This adorable picture of her was taken by Glenda Cochran of Art & Soul Photography. We had a recent family picture session and I'm in love with all the pictures.  Can't wait to show you one of my handsome son another day!

Supplies:
Stamps: Big Birthday Wishes (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: True Black (Papertrey Ink)
Paper: Raspberry Fizz, Sweet Blush, white, vellum, By the Numbers patterned paper (Papertrey Ink)
Other: Mat Stack 5, By the Numbers die (Papertrey Ink); circle punch (EK Success); glitter (Doodlebug); gems (Basic Grey); Doily, butterfly punch (Martha Stewart)

Spooky and Sweet

As I was posting this, I was thinking that one last Halloween card the day after wasn't that big of a deal...then I realized it was my ONLY Halloween card I've posted! Oops! Well, enjoy this cute little girl themed card today, and pretend I posted it yesterday- thanks!

We had a fun night of trick or treating here. My kids were finally old enough to do a few more houses than just the grandma and grandpas' homes.  I had a hard-working farm boy and an adorable Snow White princess that I took around. They loved walking around and collecting candy, and remembered to say THANK YOU every time (that makes this momma happy!).

Supplies:
Stamps: Moka Tabitha (Taylored Expressions)
Ink: Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko); Copic markers
Paper: white cardstock (Papertrey Ink); Matilda collection (Cosmo Cricket)

All Things Unity #43

Let's get BUGGY with All Things Unity #43!! That's right, this challenge calls for pulling out your Unity or Ippity stamps that feature BUGS. Butterflies, dragonflies, any sort of insect will do. Headed on over to the All Things Unity blog to get all the fine details about how to play along in this fun challenge and to see what the design team has come up with.  I used the May 2009 Kit of the Month and created my own background by stamping the dragonfly in different colours repeatedly over the cardstock.  I added some glitter to the centers and inked the edges white for a softer look.  I also inked the card base edges and glittered up my sentiment...after all, there can never be enough glitter!! :) Have a great day everyone!

Supplies:
Stamps: Another Sweet Day- May 2009 KOM (Unity Stamp Co.)
Ink: Grape Jelly, Opera Pink, Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko); Fresh Snow (Papertrey Ink)
Cardstock: Kraft, Raspberry Fizz, Royal Velvet (Papertrey Ink)
Other: Stickles (Ranger); border punch (Fiskars); gem (Basic Grey)

Home to Home

This was a easy to put together card that will be great for mass producing, AND won't cost extra postage.  Perfect for the holidays! I chose to use a card by Maile Belles for my inspiration.  She takes simple, elegant stamping to a whole new level! I changed up my card by using one of the tags from PTI's Holiday Tag collections, and I added a coloured cardstock card base.

Supplies:
Stamps: 2010 Holiday Tags,  Stylish Sentiments: Holiday (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: Tuxedo Black, Opera Pink, Lady Bug, Cantaloupe (Tsukineko)
CArdstock: Pure Poppy, white (Papertrey Ink)
Other: Stickles (Ranger)

Celebrate the weekend!

I'm kind of getting used to this 'no stamping' thing, although I know that Simple Stories carries stamps that match several of their paper collections through Unity Stamp Co.  That could get me in trouble!!!  I hear the VISA hiding right now! :)  More stickers layered on cardstock- a touch of glitter and inked edges.  Love it!  Have a great weekend everyone!

Supplies:
Ink: Chamomile (Papertrey Ink)
Cardstock: Pure Poppy, Kraft (Papertrey Ink)
Other: Stickers from Happy Day collection (Simple Stories); Stickles (Ranger)

Simple Happy Birthday

I love Simple Stories. That's all, have a good day. :) Ah- just kidding.  I have LOTS to say about one of my new favourite companies... I recently picked up some stickers and the 6x6 paper pad from the Happy Day collection and I'm loving it for creating some masculine, fun birthday cards.  Simple was better for this layout- using just stickers layered on cardstock made for a quick and easy card that has a little sparkle (not too much though).

Supplies:
Ink: Chamomile (Papertrey Ink)
Cardstock: Kraft (Papertrey Ink)
Other: Stickers from Happy Day collection (Simple Stories); Stickles (Ranger); Corner rounder (We R Memory Keepers)

Spreading Christmas Cheer

My first Christmas card for the season...I guess it's time to start thinking about that if I'm going to send any out on time this year! I only have 2 sales this fall to sell my cards at, so I don't need to produce as many as the last few years. I think this community is getting out of doing sales as they are a lot of work to organize, and not many of the 'younger' people appreciate them (although I DO!!).  This card is mostly flat and therefore easy to mail; something a lot of 'buyers' look for.

Supplies:
Stamps: Stylish Sentiments: Holiday (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko)
Paper: Rustic Cream (Papertrey Ink); Mitten Weather collection (Cosmo Cricket)
Other: Oval Nestabilities (Spellbinders); Snowflake punch, circle punch (Marvy); gem (Zva)

ATU#42 BINGO!!

Are you here to see my creation for another All Things Unity challenge?!  If so, welcome!  This challenge focuses on the popular BINGO game; the rules and the bingo card can be found over on the challenge blog.  The bingo line I chose to use features glimmer mist, buttons, twine and die cuts....or at least that's how I interpreted i!  I stamped the Love Builds a Home image and coloured in a bit of it with Copic markers and paper pieced the trees.  This turned out to be such a soft, pretty card! You have 2 weeks to play along and link up your card over at the ATU blog.  Read the rules carefully so that you qualify for a fun prize!

Supplies:
Stamps: Love Builds a Home (Unity Stamp Co.)

Birthday Boy!

With my son in a kindergarten class that is full of boys (not just boys, but still, there are a LOT of them!), some child-friendly, boyish birthday cards are needed around here!  The Alphabet Soup collection by My Mind's Eye is not new by any means, but I've had it for just those occasions when I need a good ol' boy card.  I think this time with the collection sitting out on my desk I made about 8 cards and still had lots of scraps and diecuts left for future use!  My felt star turned out a little wonky...as I was looking at my stash, I realized I don't own a star punch, or any star dies.  THAT will have to be remedied for sure! Shopping trip? I think so! :)

Supplies:
Stamps: Mega Mixed Messages (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko)
Cardstock: Orange Zest, Vintage Cream (Papertrey Ink)
Patterned Paper: Alphabet Soup Boy collection (My Mind's Eye)

ATU#41- Feeling Inspired?

All Things Unity this week is taking inspiration straight from the pages of your favourite magazines! I chose the October 2011 cover of Vogue magazine, and went with the Marilyn Monroe-esque theme.  I kept the colour scheme, added glitter, pearls and rhinestones (although I think diamonds were more up Marilyn's alley...) and went with a feminine stamp/sentiment combination.

Check out the All Things Unity blog to see what the rest of the designers came up with, and where they got their inspiration from!  If you would like to play along with us too then head over there and read the rules- the most important being- don't forget to use ONLY UNITY or IPPITY stamps on your creation!!

Supplies:
Stamps: Undeniably YOU (Unity Stamp Co.)
Ink: Raspberry Fizz (Papertrey Ink); Cyan (Tsukineko)
Cardstock: White, Sweet Blush (Papertrey Ink); pink, blue (Bazzil)
Other: flower (Prima); rhinestones (Zva); border punch (Martha Stewart); stick pin (American Crafts); Pearl Glimmer Mist (Tattered Angels)

Birthday Boy

My son has a lot of little boys in his kindergarten class this year, so I'm stocking up on child/boy friendly birthday cards.  Luckily, the adorable Little Boy collection from Echo Park (a 2010 collection that for some reason I hadn't really cracked into until now) makes it easy to do! By using patterned papers, the journalling cards and the stickers, I've easily put together a simple, cute card. I love paper collections for this very fact!

Supplies:
Stamps: Birthday Greetings (Hero Arts); Enjoy the Ride (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko)
Cardstock: White (Papertrey Ink)
Patterned Paper: Little Boy collection (Echo Park)
Other: Stickers, die cuts (Echo Park); Scalloped circle punch (Marvy)

Happy Hambo Hoedown !!

Welcome to another Hambo Hoedown, and sadly, my last... This is the last challenge for us Bacon Bits on the current team, but I am so excited (and I'm sure you are too) to see what the new team will come up with!! This was a friendly, fun, welcoming and organized team to work for/with and I really, truly enjoyed myself!!
The challenge put to us on the team this week was to CASE a card from the Hambo gallery and use the Dragonfly-digi as our image.
I chose to CASE my card from the BUG gallery, and picked a card by none other than the Hambo Design Team coordinator herself, the talented Judy Rozema herself!!! :) :) I'm not sucking up at all... hehe.

Welcome baby girl!

I love that the Papertrey Ink Shape Up series of dies can be used on it's own as a card, or made to fit on an A2 card base.  I personally like them cut out on a card base because it gives me more patterned paper possibilities. :) And I LOVE my patterned paper!

Ink: Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko); Copic marker
Paper: Vintage Cream (Papertrey Ink); Sweet Threads collection (Basic Grey)

Happy Hoedown with Operation Write Home

It's Wednesday, so that means welcome to another fabulous Hambo Hoedown! This week Hambo is partnering with Operation Write Home, and all of our creations follow the guidelines there. Check out what the rest of the design team has created, and read the challenge rules carefully, because if you play along according to the rules you can win next week's digi!

After checking out the rest of the team, you might notice I'm not using the Pig Sub digi...uh ohhhh.  My printer broke before I had the chance to print it off (that darn cardstock takes its toll on printers after awhile...) but I had this cute Heart Basket digi already printed off from before so I used it instead.  Look for that Pig Sub later this week when I finally get my new printer.  It's on order AND handles cardstock very well apparently...(it better!!)

Supplies:
Stamps: Heart Basket digi (Hambo)
Ink: Copic markers
Paper: Soft Stone, white (Papertrey Ink); Happily Lost collection (Lily Bee Designs)
Other: pearls (Kaisercraft); Nestabilities (Spellbinders); heart punch (EK Success); foam dimensionals

Sing Your Art Out!!

Welcome to "Sing Your Art Out" sponsored by Hambo Stamps! Today Hambo friends, customers, and the Bacon Bits Design Team are bringing you fun creations that depict song titles! It might be our favorite song, or just one that was fun to design.

If you arrived here from Paige you are in the right place! If not, you might want to start back at the beginning at the Hambo blog to make sure you are eligible for the hopper prize!

A prize will be awarded to one participant whose song-themed creation tickles the Bacon Bits’ fancy in a singin' wingin' way! Another prize will be awarded randomly to a hopper who comments on all the blogs along the hop. The winners will be announced on the Hoedown blog, as well as on the Hambo company blog, Talk to the Ham, on Wednesday, September 21. OH, and did you know you can follow Hambo on Twitter now at @HamboStamps?! Coooool!!!

I chose the song "Landing in London" by 3 Doors Down (featuring Bob Seger) and chose to give my card a 'missing you' theme. The song is pretty melancholy and lonesome (hopefully my card isn't as sad looking, haha), but has a gorgeous melody and I looooove Bob Seger! :)  You can hear the song on You Tube here.  A sample of the lyrics are:

I woke up today in London
As the plane was touching down
And all I could think about was Monday
Maybe I'd be back around

I used the Skyline image (it's BIG!) and coloured it in with Copic markers.  I decided to make the card a WHOLE lot cheerier than the song is; doom and gloom and Hambo just don't mix!! :) See that lonely one single light left on? Maybe that person is waiting up for their loved one to come home... :)

Now it's time to warm up those vocal chords and be prepared to sing! Now hop on over to Leslie for another great sing-along song!

Happily...

This is very much a lack-of-mojo-so-i-borrowed-someone-else's-idea kind of card. :) It's OK as long as you admit it!!  Isn't that what this industry and hobby is about? Inspiring others, being inspired by others? :) The basic layout/sketch came from the Card Ideas for Paper Crafters magazine and I just love how easy it is to do so many different colour combinations with this particular stamp set! I stamped the pieces of the doilies in different colours off the side of the cardstock, added lots of glitter and matted it on a few layers of cardstock.  Verrrry pretty in real life if I do say so myself!!

Supplies:
Stamps: Love Lives Here, Delightful Doilies (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: Turquoise Gem, Night Sky, Mango Madness, Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko)
Cardstock: White (Papertrey Ink); Ocean Mist (Gina K Designs); Deep Blue dotted swiss (Bazzil)
Other: gem (Zva); Stickles (Ranger)

Card Play congrats

Two birdies in love? How cute can that be?! I made this card for the Card Play Challenge in the Moxie Fab World and can't wait to pass it along to a happy couple somewhere out there. :)  I used a playing card die cut from the Fancy Pants It's the Little Things collection as my center image and added glitter to the little hearts in the corners.  Papers and other die cuts are from the same collection, and that big, beautiful sentiment is from the Congrats All Ways set by Papertrey Ink.

Supplies:
Stamps: Congrats All Ways (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko)
Cardstock: Rustic Cream, True Black (Papertrey Ink)
Patterned Paper: It's the Little Things collection (Fancy Pants Designs)
Other: playing card and flower die cuts (Fancy Pants); Stickles (Ranger); foam dimensionals

Multiples!

Twin boys! How exciting! How...BUSY this lady is going to be!! A friend needed a twin baby boys card, and this is what I came up with.  I paper pieced the onesie from the Bitty Baby Blessings set, and stamped the cute little sailboat in the middle.  The Seaside papers by October Afternoon were a perfect compliment to a BOY-ish card. :) Have a great weekend everyone!

Supplies:
Stamp: Bitty Baby Blessings (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: True Black, Chamomile (Papertrey Ink); Copic marker
Cardstock: Vintage Cream, Pure Poppy (Papertrey Ink)
Patterned Paper: Seaside collection (October Afternoon)
Other: button, twine (Papertrey Ink); Scalloped border punch (SU!)
