2013, glitter and Mama Elephant!

Here I am, surprisingly sneaking another quick blog post in before the new year begins! Since it's a quiet Sunday morning here I thought I'd take some time for myself to create a last minute card for the Mama Elephant colour challenge. I just adore the fun and trendy stamps from this relatively new stamp company.

The challenge was to create a card using Mama Elephant stamps and the colours red, aqua, white and glitter.  Welllll, never let it be said that I don't LOVE glitter! :) I used the Good Times stamp set, stamping the sentiment staggered 3 times, and the cute little dancing people beside.  I spritzed some Studio Calico Water Cooler mist, and die cut glittery numbers for the 2013.  I hope everyone has a fun, safe and Happy New Year!

Supplies:
Stamps: (Good Times) Mama Elephant
Ink: (Aqua Mist, Pure Poppy) Papertrey Ink; (Tuxedo Black) Tsukineko
Paper: (white) Papertrey Ink; (silver) American Crafts
Other: (Water Cooler spray mist) Studio Calico; (number die cuts) Papertrey Ink

Happy New Year!

The New Year is rapidly approaching and I can't help but be excited.

2012 brought many blessings to our family, but 2013 can expect plenty more! Highlights of my fabulous year included watching my brother get married to the most wonderful woman ever, learning they were pregnant and that I would be an aunt, taking our family on a super fun summer vacation, and getting published a few times in Paper Crafts magazine! :)

Here's a Happy New Year card from me to you, and my wishes that your 2013 begins with happiness and love! I used bright and bold colours on my card with a bit of bling (can't have New Years Eve without bling!), and lots of spray mist. Enjoy!

Stamps: (Grunge Me) Papertrey Ink; (Celebrate Everyday) Hero Arts
Ink: (Tuxedo Black) Tsukineko; (Hibiscus Burst) Papertrey Ink

Year End Wrap Up!

It's not quite the end of the year yet, but I thought I'd do my 'wrap-up' post now before the next few days get too busy with happy Christmas festivities.
I'm sharing with you my 12 favourite cards from all year; one from each month that I posted on my blog throughout the year. I hope you enjoyed them as much as I did!!

Joyful Greetings!

I struggle with photographing cards that are all or mostly white.  They always end up too bright, like in this picture, no matter what editing I try to do!  Despite that, hopefully the 'prettiness' of this card will come across on screen.  Silver paired with pink, white and lots of sparkle.  My kind of card! I love a good stamp that can take up most of an A2 sized card and create a wonderful focal point.

Supplies:

Ink: (Hibiscus Burst) Papertrey Ink; (Tuxedo Black) Tsukineko

FWF- Sweet Baby

Happy Friday to all of you in blog land! This is our first upcoming weekend of Christmas festivities with both sides of our family and we are all very much looking forward to it! I love the hustle and bustle of visiting family, eating good food and watching the little ones bounce around in excitement.  It's called the most wonderful time of the year for a reason you know!

Moving away from Christmas for the day, I'm showing an older baby card that I had forgotten to post, but it worked out well since now I can show it on FWF for Unity. I know the sentiment is from another company- but the main image is a gorgeous stamp from the Webster's Itty Bitty line at Unity.  It's soooo pretty, and although it included a LOVE sentiment, I thought it was appropriate for a baby card as well.
I hope everyone enjoys skipping around the FWF links, and have a great weekend!

Supplies:
Stamps: (Love Itty Bitty) Unity Stamp Co.; (Mega Mixed Messages) Papertrey Ink
Ink: (Kraft, Melon Berry, Chamomile) Papertrey Ink
Paper: (Harvest Gold) Papertrey Ink; (The Sweetest Thing 'Tangerine' collection) My Mind's Eye
Other: (button, twine) Papertrey Ink; (stick pin) Maya Road; (lace trim) Prima

Look who arrived!

Never hurts to have a few baby cards on hand for those wee ones that are keeping their gender a secret until the big day!  I would very much like to know whether or not I'm expecting a niece or nephew in the next few weeks, but alas, baby's parents are not finding out...darn them! :)

Supplies:
Stamp: (sentiment from Baby Button Bits, plane from Fly Away) Papertrey Ink
Ink: (Spring Moss) Papertrey Ink; (London Fog) Tsukineko; (Spica glitter marker) Copic
Paper: (Everday Blessings patterned paper, Spring Moss cardstock, white) Papertrey Ink
Other: (tag die, airplane die) Papertrey Ink; (clouds die) MFT; (gems) Kaisercraft

Paint Chips put to use!

What should you do with all those random paint chips that you no longer need or changed your mind about the colour? Why use them on a card of course! I trimmed my paint chip to fit the card and punched a snowflake on each one, and then tied on the twine and button before adhering it with foam dimensionals.  I stamped my sentiment in a matching purple and that was that!

By the way, the bottom purple colour was a contender for our bathroom, but I just couldn't convince my husband that purple was the way to go... :)

This long sentiment stamp from Penny Black is a rubber stamp that I bought the first Christmas that I had started cardmaking.  I loved it then and still love it now even though it barely fits onto an A2 sized card. It's a long time favourite for sure! I'm entering this card in to the Crazy 4 Challenges C4C166 challenge, which is to use your favourite Holiday stamp.

Supplies:
Stamps: (sentiment) Penny Black
Ink: (Royal Velvet) Papertrey Ink
Cardstock: (Soft Stone) Papertrey Ink
Other: (twine) The Twinery; (button) Papertrey Ink; (paint chip) misc.

Christmas wedding

Can you even imagine a Christmas wedding?? I'm picturing silver, gold, velvety purples, deep navy, rich reds and dark greens or any combination of those...sooooo pretty.  A delightful local couple is getting married close to Christmas and so I made up a few wintery wedding cards for people in the area to give them. The patterned paper on this card has a nice velvety texture to it, not to mention a felt snowflake under the beaded trinket (don't ask me the manufacturer on that beaded piece...I just don't know!!).  I haven't used my Copics much lately, except to change the colour of embellishments, which is exactly what I did this time to the stick pin that was originally cream coloured.

Supplies:
Stamps: (Calendar Basics) Papertrey Ink
Ink: (Tuxedo Black ink, Versamark) Tsukineko; (Pure Poppy) Papertrey Ink; (R29 marker) Copic
Paper: (blue snowflake) misc.; (silver cardstock) Papertrey Ink
Other: (stick pin) Maya Road; (beaded element) misc.

Everyday I'm Shufflin'!!

I'm not sure if there is a stamp set out there that could be more fun and cute than the Good Times set by Mama Elephant. Not to mention every time I LOOK at the sentiment "Everyday I'm Shufflin'" the Party Rock Anthem starts playing on repeat in my head! I kept my card fairly simple by repeating the little 2 person image over and over, using a bright aqua for the pair over the sentiment.  A spritz of spray mist and some black gems keep this card fun and funky!

Supplies:
Stamps: (Good Times) Mama Elephant
Ink: (Tuxedo Black) Tsukineko; (Hawaiian Shores) Papertrey Ink
Cardstock: (True Black, white) Papertrey Ink
Other: (gems) Kaisercraft; (A2 card) DCWV; (spray mist) Tattered Angels

Snowflakes sparkle

It's getting colder and colder here in Ontario and what is better to celebrate that (Celebrate cold? Really?!), than a pretty, wintery card in soft shades of purple and blue, just perfect for a winter's day! I enjoyed making this card because I knew the end result would be one I loved! I softened the edges with Fresh Snow ink and gave the background a subtle texture with the Canvas & Linen impression plate. The pop of dark purple really makes this card eye catching IRL.

Supplies:
Stamps: (In the Meadow) Papertrey Ink
Ink: (Fresh Snow, Royal Velvet) Papertrey Ink
Cardstock: (Winter Wisteria, Spring Rain, white, Royal Velvet, Lavender Moon, silver) Papertrey Ink; (silver glitter) DCWV

C4C164- Put a Bow on it!

This weekend we had the first snow of the season here in my area of South western Ontario, and boy did we ever have fun playing outside on Sunday!!  It was a busy weekend for our family and it flew by quickly, but lots of happy memories were made.  We all had to drag our butts out of bed this morning and momma is on her 3rd coffee already. :)

The card I'm sharing today was created for the Crazy 4 Challenges- put a BOW on it challenge. Link it up on your blog or SCS under the keyword C4C164.  All you had to do was (if it's not already clear to you...) put a bow on it. :) I used a really nice, thick linen ribbon that I topped with a button and twine.  Papers are the Sleigh Ride collection by Crate Paper (LOVE this collection!!).

Supplies:
Paper: (Sleigh Ride collection) Crate Paper

Sweet Baby Boy

I gasped out loud when I first saw the Little Boy Blue collection by Crate Paper. The boyish colours, the adorable patterns...it all mixes together to create baby boy perfection! I used some of those papers on the card shown, as well as a leftover bingo card from a long ago Making Memories collection.  There have been a few baby girls born in the area lately, but I figure it's only a short time before a boy makes an appearance...maybe in January when my brother and sister-in-law's little one arrives? Can't wait to find out if that cutie pie is a niece or nephew! :)

Supplies:
Stamps: (Bitty Baby Blessings, Signature Greetings) Papertrey Ink
Ink: (Tuxedo Black) Tsukineko
Paper: (Little Boy Blue) Crate Paper; (Spring Rain) Papertrey Ink
Other: (bingo card) Making Memories; (button, twine, tag die, boat die) Papertrey Ink; (gems) Kaisercraft

A Simple Christmas

The easiest of easy Christmas cards...mostly one layer, simple stamping, a basic embellishment, and it packs a pretty punch! This card sparkles beautifully in real life; the glitter card base was from a box by Die Cuts With a View.  I love keeping my cards simple this time of year.  Who has time in our busy lives to put a lot of fuss and muss into each and every holiday card we create? Not me! Choose a simple design, a few supplies to keep at your fingertips, and have fun! :)

It never hurts to have a few thank you cards in your stash! It's especially easy to make a few when you have the super, ultra cute and cool On Trend collection by Crate Paper to help you out! Paper, tags, washi tape stickers...all put together with a stamped sentiment for a modern looking card.

Party Like a Rockstar!

I'm always trying to come up with ideas for teenage birthday cards! Pairing that Wonderland Stars mask with the rockin' pink guitar and a very cool sentiment seemed to work perfectly for this card, and I think a teen aged girl would find it quite acceptable!! :)

Supplies:
Stamps: (Good Times) Mama Elephant
Ink: (Tuxedo Black) Tsukineko; (Winter Wisteria) Papertrey Ink
Paper: (white) Papertrey Ink; (purple card base) DCWV

Winter Wonderland

I'm not a big fan of traditional Christmas or holiday cards.  I prefer bright and bold shades of pink, lime and turquoise, or the opposite end of the spectrum- neutrals and rustic looks. I went with the latter on this card, pulling out my new wooden snowflakes from Studio Calico, using a wintery sentiment and keeping my layout simple.

Now that I'm full into mass production of holiday and seasonal cards, I find it easier to line up a bunch of label dies on my cutting plate and run them through the Grand Calibur all at once. I know those extra pieces will come in handy at some point during my card making! Any quick and easy card making tips to share for this time of the year?

Supplies:
Stamps: (In the Meadow) Papertrey Ink
Ink: (Dark Chocolate) Papertrey Ink
Paper: (Vintage Santa from Season's Greetings collection) Echo Park; (white) Papertrey Ink
Other: (wood snowflakes) Studio Calico; (Mat Stack 4, label from Pretty Peonies dies) Papertrey Ink

Celebrate the Season!

Clean and simple, one layer cards are always fun to make, and even better, easy and inexpensive to mail! So often we make big and bulky cards that feature pretty ribbon, buttons and other thick embellishments...beautiful? Yes.  Cheap to mail? No!  When you have lots of cards to send out to family and friends this holiday season, try coming up with a few card layouts that feature stamping as the focal point- it will save your wallet when it comes time to mail them all!

This card is for the Crazy 4 Challenges-C4C162 challenge.  Head on over and the other Christmas inspiration there!

Supplies:
Stamps: (Polka Dot Basics, sentiment from Think Big Favorites #9) Papertrey Ink

Birthdays stand still

After a barrage of fall birthdays, we are at a birthday stand-still in our house for a few weeks anyway.  A few important December birthdays to celebrate, then a bunch in January, but for right now I'm busy trying to replenish my female birthday card pile! Here is a quick one that I put together using papers, journal card, and chipboard from the Emma's Shoppe collection by Crate Paper. I love the feminine feel to this line; gorgeous patterns and colours aplenty!

Supplies:
Stamps: (Birthday Savings) Hero Arts
Ink: (Tuxedo Black) Tsukineko

Making Spirits BRIGHT!

Here's my first Christmas card of the season! I've made quite a few by now and was dragging my feet to post one, but it's time to start showing some of that Christmas craftiness so we can all be inspired by each other right?! :) I'm really addicted to the Hero Arts neon inks right now and figured the sentiment 'making spirits bright' quite applied to this card. It's clean and simple, almost one layer, and bright and bold- all my favourites in one!!

Supplies:
Stamps: (Modern Wood Mats) Papertrey Ink; (Joyful Greetings) Paper Smooches
Ink: (Neon Green) Hero Arts; (Tuxedo Black) Tsukineko
Paper: (white, Raspberry Fizz) Papertrey Ink

Neon Hello

Here's something SUPER bright and blinding on this early Sunday morning! How's that time change affecting you all? Everyone loves an extra hour of sleep, right? Unless you have kids...which I do.  Which means they were up at 6 a.m.  NOT GOOD. Lol

I used the Portfolio collection of stamps from Pink Paislee for this clean and graphic card. I stamped several of the stamps in neon inks, then stamped the sentiment in black, cut it out, and popped it up. The end result is a colourful, one layer card that will blind the recipient. :)

Supplies:
Stamps: (Portfolio) Pink Paislee
Cardstock: (white) Papertrey Ink

Our real selves

I just love this rubber stamp from River City Rubber Works. Something about it really speaks to me! I created this card way back on World Cardmaking Day, and have posted it a few other places, but not here on the blog, so here it is!
I hope everyone has had a wonderful weekend so far...my husband is FINALLY home from a loooong business trip and we attempted a date night last night; dinner and a movie- Argo.  Well, drove into town, and the hydro was out in most of the city, movie theater included.  AND it was out at home, so we had to come home and rescue the babysitter...oh well.  We are trying attempt #2 this morning and are going out for breakfast instead. :)

Journaling Cards challenge

I created a similar card to this one a few days ago, but since then a fun and inspiring challenge has begun over at the Moxie Fab world, so I'm glad I had another beautiful journal card on hand to use for this creation!  I stuck to The Sweetest Thing 'Tangerine' collection for all my supplies (except the button and gem).  I love the 'matchy' look with all these coordinating products! In case you want to play along to, go check out the Journaling Cards Challenge in the Moxie Fab World.  You'll be happy you played along! :)

You are So...

I'm on a roll lately, making the most out of my supplies and vowing to use up every last scrap of paper in this gorgeous MME 6x6 paper pack! I paired the bright, cheery papers with a journal card from the same collection, adding washi tape and few other embellishments for interest.

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend like I did.  Waking up to find out I'm the Featured Stamper at SCS on Sunday really was amazing, but watching my sweet kiddos jump into a leaf pile over and over on a gorgeous fall day equaled it. :)

More Unity Challenges!

A fall-ish card to enter in the Fall themed Unity Stamp Co. World Cardmaking Day challenge! I used the store kit Artist in You set for the trees/bushes, and With Sympathy for the sentiment. I love the look of layering all those images in different colours! There are even some Antique Linen Stickles glitter on some of the bushes for a little sparkle and shine...subtle though, since it IS intended for a sympathy card.
Supplies:
Stamps: (Artist in You, With Sympathy) Unity Stamp Co.
Ink: (Orange Zest, Dark Chocolate, Fine Linen, Terracotta Tile, Chamomile) Papertrey Ink
Paper: (white) Papertrey Ink

Here's a card a bit cheerier and brighter! This time I stamped my border (for the Stamp a Border using a NON border stamp challenge!) I used the sentiment from Balloons to You, and the flowers were from Flowers Galore

Supplies:
Stamps: (Balloons to You, Flowers Galore) Unity Stamp Co.
Ink: (Limeade Ice, Hawaiian Shores, Hibiscus Burst, True Black) Papertrey Ink
Paper: (white, Limeade Ice) Papertrey Ink

So happy together

Sometimes a quick and easy card with no fuss and muss can turn out to be one you like the most! On World Cardmaking Day I pulled out one 6x6 paper pad and vowed to use up most of it...hence this card, and others I have shown lately using The Sweetest Thing 'Tangerine' collection by My Mind's Eye. No stamping, no embossing, no fancy details...just paper, a sticker for the sentiment and some button and trim accents.

Supplies:
Paper: (The Sweetest Thing 'Tangerine' collection) My Mind's Eye

I'm Here

More Unity Stamp Co. challenges! This time around, I played in the 'color your stamp' challenge. I haven't pulled out my Copics much lately, so it was kind of fun to get them out and start colouring up my image. I am NOT great at colouring; I do not understand shading, light source, cool/warm tones, etc.  It's a complete mess for me, so when I colour, I just wing it! :) I'm also linking this card up for FWF, so if that's why you're here...enjoy!!

Supplies:
Stamps: (I'm Here) Unity Stamp Co.

The little things

Another challenge from Unity Stamp Co. from World Cardmaking Day; this time a sketch. What a fun sketch it was, too! I tried to give this card a homey, homespun kind of look...that patterned paper really helps with it.  I hope all of you are having fun playing with these challenges; you have until the 20th to link them all up!

Unity Challenge- shaped cards

Has everyone recovered from World Cardmaking Day (and Canadian Thanksgiving?)? I was lucky enough to spend the morning creating and playing along in the Unity Stamp Co. challenges.  Challenge #1 was to create a shaped card, so I used my Baby Onesie die to cut out this cute card base. I stamped my image, paper pieced it, stamped the sentiment, added gems, and sprayed it all with a shimmery spray mist.  It's cute, isn't it?! :)

If the Shoe fits...

I hope everyone is having fun celebrating World Cardmaking Day! I'm home until later in the afternoon, so I am lucky to have some time to get crafty!!  Make sure you check out all the deals many online stores are offering today...you might score some GREAT buys!

This is the kind of card above that I would love to receive...a bit flashy and with some bling. It screams MARCIE! The Sugar Chic collection from Heidi Swapp is one of my favourite paper lines.

Have a Hallotini!

How about a Hallotini?? I just adore this stamp, and picked it up on a 'moving' sale for the Paper Pickle, my favourite LSS. I stamped and paper pieced the image, coloured the candy corns, and the rest you can figure out yourselves! I submitted this one to the Halloween category for Paper Crafts magazine, Card Creations Vol. 11 and it didn't get picked up. I'd be a little disappointed in that except I had two other cards picked up! :) Super exciting!

Supplies:
Stamps: (sentiment from Toil & Trouble) Taylored Expressions; (Hallotini) Impression Obsession
Ink: (Tuxedo Black) Tsukineko
Paper: (white, True Black, Halloween Prints 8x8 paper) Papertrey Ink
Other: (Spica black glitter marker, yellow, orange, gray marker) Copic; (black marker) Zig, (gems) Prima

Missing Mojo

Ugh.  Missing mojo.  We've all lost our crafting "oomph" before, haven't we? I have put out a BOLO (I learned that term from CSI, lol) and hope to find it soon.  Hence, the mediocre card and lack of blogging lately.  I think I'll just take a step back for the next few days, search the blogosphere for some inspiration, and focus on making cards just for sheer pleasure.  I'm hoping that will kick start my creativity!! What do YOU do when you're lacking mojo?? Let me know! :)

Supplies:
Stamps: (Toil & Trouble) Taylored Expressions; (Happy Haunting ) Papertrey Ink
Ink: (Orange Zest, True Black) Papertrey Ink; (Copic marker)
Paper: (white, True Black, Halloween Prints designer paper) Papertrey Ink

Wild Wedding!

There's a lot happening on this card, and truthfully, it's not one of my best efforts.  Maybe it's a little toooo much going on, all on one A2 sized card!  Glittery paper, glittery embossing powder, wild animal prints in bright colours, lacy doilies, romantic sentiment...on just one wedding card!  Here's my two sweeties in a wedding this past weekend. The bride and groom (the bride is my husband's cousin) received the above card.  It was a lovely day and fun was had by all!!
Supplies:
Stamps: (Love Lives Here, Delightful Doilies) Papertrey Ink
Ink: (Hibiscus Burst, True Black) Papertrey Ink; (silver) Tsukineko
Paper: (white) Papertrey Ink; (animal print) Michael's; (black glossy) misc.

Hey There Little Lady!

I can't help but saying that cute sentiment out loud with a Texas drawl, although I'm SURE my Texas drawl sounds NOTHING like what one actually sounds like. I'm more of a MUM, EH? and ABOOT kind of Canadian girl. :) None the less, I tried to incorporate a western, with a touch (or a LOT) of girly, 'feel' to this card. I think it worked! Back in the Saddle is one stamp set that I just can't put away (or in reality, give back to my mom, whom I borrowed it from).

Supplies:
Stamps: (Back in the Saddle, border from Way Out West) Waltzingmouse Stamps
Ink: (Kraft, Fresh Snow) Papertrey Ink
Paper: (kraft) Papertrey Ink; (patterned paper from The Sweetest Thing collection) My Mind's Eye
Other: (button, ribbon) misc.; (twine) The Twinery; (aqua Zing embossing powder) American Crafts
